Technical guide
Ceramic Fiber Blanket, Board and Module
Ceramic fiber blanket, board and module are three forms of alumina-silicate fiber insulation supplied in the same four grades. Blanket is flexible and the lightest, at 64 to 140 kg/m³. Board is rigid at 260 to 320 kg/m³ and resists wind erosion. Module is a pre-assembled block at 220 kg/m³ that builds a seamless lining. Grade, not form, sets the temperature limit.

Refractory Raw Materials: Alumina and Magnesia
White fused alumina, tabular alumina and calcined bauxite are the alumina-based refractory raw materials; burned magnesia, fused magnesia and large crystal fused magnesia are the magnesia-based ones. Within each group the published specifications separate the materials on purity and bulk density. Alumina content runs from 75 percent in bauxite to 99.5 percent in white fused alumina, and magnesia content from 90 to 98.5 percent.
